As with everything else he touches…the reflecting pool, the East wing, the celebration on the mall, it goes to shit.However, this is OUR nation, and we will not allow him to steal our joy, so we will celebrate our own way, and visit on the porch. When you live in an Appalachian region of Ohio, but a contracted firm assesses your property using valuations from an Urban/Suburban area an hour and a half away…is that fair?
Furthermore, the whole scam of property taxes needs to be reworked by our state legislature. We are being taxed on money we do not make!
If I purchased a property for $60,000 in 2009, and the county now says the value of it is $246,000 in 2025, do I have that money in my hand?
Did I sell it? NO
Did I make a profit somehow? NO
Did I get a check for $246,000? NO!
Is my social security check still a fixed amount? HELL YES!
My property taxes go up like I have access to that money!
What is the problem? Someone decides my home is worth a certain amount of money, and then I am billed for it! MY income did not increase like that, but my bill sure did!
If my income did not increase, then I do NOT pay or owe more income tax.
So why is owning a home different? Why are we taxed on unrealized gains? AND THEN, should we sell our home, we will be taxed again as capitol gains!!!!!
The number 2 reason seniors lose their home is property tax! (#1 is medical bills) You do not own something you can be taxed out of!
WE ARE BEING CHARGED FOR VALUE WE DO NOT RECEIVE!!!!!
